About Cardiff Bay Kayak Club

We are a club based at Cardiff International White Water Centre. We are primarily involved in flat water racing, both Sprint, Marathon and Ocean Ski racing. Members attend most Nottingham regattas, local marathon races and UK and international ocean ski races.

We train on the river Ely where we have a 6km length of sheltered flat water plus we have Cardiff Bay and the Taff where appropriate. Club training sessions are run on Wed evenings(usually 5pm) and 9am Sat mornings. Other sessions on different evenings may be run by Welsh canoeing squads.

We have an agreement with CIWW for members to use the changing rooms and access the river on Wednesday evenings and Saturday & Sunday mornings.

We have club boats for members to use ranging from the most stable to racing K1 & K2s. Boat storage at CIWW is very limited. Personal boat storage is not routinely available.

New members welcome although at this time we are unable to cope with complete beginners. We have a junior section with separate coaching – use the contact page for more details.
