Membership of the club is open to anyone interested in promoting coaching, volunteering or participating in paddling opportunities; regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs.

The membership shall consist of the following categories:

  • Full member – eligible to use club equipment, paddle at the IWWC at times the club has negotiated access and race for the club in appropriate events. Note that under 18 paddlers must always be accompanied on the water by an approved competent adult.
  • Squad member- in addition to all the benefits of being a full member, squad members are eligible to join in with the coached club squad sessions. There are very specific conditions and competencies required, for under 18s in particular, to join these squads. Information on squads and requirements are available separately.

Members in each category will pay membership fees, as determined by the committee each year.

All members will be subject to the regulations of the constitution and by joining the club will be deemed to accept these regulations and codes of practice that the club has adopted.

Individuals shall be eligible to take part in the business of the Club, vote at general meetings or be eligible for selection of any Club team unless the applicable subscription has not been paid by the due date and/or membership has been agreed by the Club committee.

Membership is in 3 parts:

  1. Membership of Cardiff Bay Kayakers

The club fees pay for our club affiliation to Canoe Wales, access fees to Cardiff Bay via the International White Water Centre and various administration costs. All additional monies are allocated to equipment purchases or equipment upkeep.

The Club membership fee is £50 per year for all members

The membership renewal date will be 1st September each year. Anyone wishing to join later on in the year may be offered an appropriate pro‐rata fee.

  • Membership of Canoe Wales

All club paddlers must be a member of Canoe Wales. This covers the club for any third party insurance issues that may arise during club activities. If you do not want to compete or only take part in lower level marathon races then ‘Club Associate’ membership is adequate, for higher level racing ‘On the Water’ membership is required.

Once you are a member (new or existing), make sure you log in to ‘My Profile’ on the Canoe Wales Website and join ‘Cardiff Bay Kayakers’

The membership secretary then gets a notification that you have joined.

We will only hold Cardiff Bay Kayakers Club member’s personal information on the Go Membership site under the protection of Canoe Wales GDPR policies and security.

Last but not least, to be able to participate in training sessions members need to register for permission to launch at IWWC.

Simply call in at reception any time they are open and fill in the IWCC disclaimer paperwork. The centre will keep a record and let us know who can launch.
